The crossover SUV is super popular, so popular in fact that every auto manufacturer makes at least one. That means that there’s a whole of vehicles to look through when you’re doing your research. Let us help.
Here’s the 2019 Mazda CX-5 vs 2019 Hyundai Tuscon.
We’ve talked about it before, but the CX-5 is unmatched when it comes to steering and handling. The Tuscon is alright. You’ll feel in control most of the time, if a little bored. The Tuscon can’t touch the CX-5 though. The CX-5 drives and handles like a sports car, despite being a crossover. No matter how fast you take your turns, no matter how sharp the turns are, the CX-5 will stay firmly planted to the pavement. It’s just as poised passing on the freeway or leisurely driving around town. All trims excluding the base have a turbocharged engine and the option for AWD.
The Tuscon seats are a little stiffer and more upright than is comfortable or natural. Even when adjusted, seats still don’t quite contour correctly. The CX-5 is a completely different story. The driver’s seat conforms to your body shape while still being supportive. The CX-5 has a refined interior, with quality materials found everywhere. Especially on upper trims, the CX-5 feels more like a luxury vehicle than a sporty crossover SUV. The Tuscon interior is lackluster by comparison, particularly in the rear, where scratchy, rough plastic is the norm. The rest of the Tuscon interior is a bit better, but not enough to surpass the CX-5.
