2020 Mazda CX-9 vs 2020 Honda Pilot
It's no secret that the Crossover/SUV market has the fiercest competition of any automotive segment. With auto manufacturers making upwards of three to four different models, trying to research and compare the 100+ options is basically impossible. Let us help.
Here’s an in-depth comparison of the 2020 Mazda CX-9 Signature and the 2020 Honda Pilot Elite. Take a look to see which is right for you.
Mazda is known for making well driving vehicles. We’re happy to say that the 2020 CX-9 is no exception. It’s powered by the 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G turbo-four, which puts out 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque (when using premium fuel). It handles exceptionally well, too, even on winding roads and in inclement weather. Brakes are punchy and consistent. The steering is communicative and responsive. While the CX-9 doesn’t match something like the Miata, it’s a standout in the midsize SUV segment. The Pilot simply can't keep up. It’s not bad, but the Pilot lacks the finesse and road-feel that make the CX-9 such a pleasure to get behind the wheel of.
Sophisticated Kodo Design
The 2020 Honda Pilot Elite is decked out in leather upholstery and has soft-touch materials all throughout the cabin. It’s nice, to be sure, but it still feels like an average SUV. The 2020 CX-9 genuinely feels like a luxury vehicle without the huge price tag. With premium European-sourced Nappa leather upholstery, real wood accents, master-crafted stitching, and minimalist design, the interior looks as good as it feels. One of our favorite non-obvious luxury inclusions is the 12-speaker Bose Centerpoint surround-sound audio system.
