The Mazda3 is one of the best-looking cars in its class and it is back for the 2020 model year. The Mazda3 is the only model in the automaker’s lineup that is available as a sedan and hatchback, so versatility is one of its biggest strengths.
While the Mazda3 is certainly pleasing to the eyes and filled with great features, we are here to see how it stacks up against the competition. In this edition of our model research pages, we are putting the 2020 Mazda3 up against the 2020 Kia Forte. Both of these cars are compact, efficient rides that offer drivers great efficiency and technology. Our chart below features stats on the base trims of each model.

The Mazda3 simply comes with more features and options than the Kia Forte. New for 2019 and back for 2020 is the available i-ACTIV AWD® predictive all-wheel drivetrain. When the Mazda3 senses that the terrain is loose or slippery, it will automatically activate all-wheel drive to maximize your stability and control. Under the hood, the 2020 Mazda3 comes with a SKYACTIV®-G 186-horsepower, 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with variable valve timing. That engine is paired with a SKYACTIV®-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission with sport mode as well as SKYACTIV VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring Control Plus.
