A NEW SPARK OF INNOVATION
Welcome to the future of electric vehicle (EV) driving. Mazda's new MX 30 EV will change the way you feel about EVs, blending the power of electricity with the comfort and convenience of Mazda engineering. So if you're looking for a new, capable yet efficient crossover SUV, it's time you checked out the Mazda MX 30.
European models shown throughout. Limited availability beginning in California expected Fall 2021.
Mazda offers the MX 30 in two trims, MX 30 EV and the Premium Plus. Both trims feature an electric powertrain that delivers an EPA-estimated 98 MPGe city driving, 85 MPGe on the highway, and 92 mpg combined. In addition, you get a 100-mile driving range on a full charge. Plus, you get an eight-year warranty on your battery.
Other key features include a three-year free trial to Mazda Connected Services, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, free-style side doors, and a suite of driver-assist systems designed to keep you safe.
Pricing on the 2022 MX 30 EV starts at 33,470. The MSRP on the Premium Plus trim begins at $36,480. You have various options and accessories, from navigation systems to lug nuts and splash guards that can raise these prices. A federal tax credit of up to $7,500 helps offset these prices, plus you get a $500 Chargepoint credit. You can use this to recharge at any Chargepoint public charging station, or you can put that toward installing a home charging station. Every model comes with a Level 1 charging cord and an adapter for public charging.
STYLE MEETS SUSTAINABILITY
Both trims feature signature LED lighting with auto-on/off headlights and an adaptive front lighting system that adds directional control of your headlights while cornering. Your heated side mirrors power-fold and include LED turn signal indicators and driver memory positioning. The Premium Plus trim driver's side mirror has auto-dimming functionality. Its bold front fascia features a Gloss Black grille with shutters.
Getting inside the rear cabin of the MX 30 has never been easier with Mazda's freestyle side doors. These freestyle doors have custom rear hinges that open opposite the front doors for exceptional access. In addition, you can let in all the light and air through the power sliding one-touch moonroof with an interior sunshade. A rear spoiler adds stylish performance as it rolls by on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-season tires.
The MX 30 EV comes with three exterior color options, including Polymetal Gray Metallic. In addition, on the Premium Plus trim, you have several three-tone color options such as Soul Red Crystal Metallic and Ceramic Metallic.
Both trim levels feature one-touch power windows, power door locks with speed-sensitive auto-locking, and push-button start technology. The MX 30 EV comes with a remote keyless entry system, while the Premium Plus model has the Mazda advanced keyless entry system. Both trims have automatic climate control and seat up to five people in premium comfort. Leatherette-trimmed sport seats with cloth inserts come standard on both models, plus you get a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters and a leather-wrapped shift knob.
Your eight-way power-adjustable front seats are heated on both trims, and the Premium Plus adds a heated steering wheel for additional comfort. The MX 30 EV comes with an eight-speaker HD audio system, while the Premium Plus upgrades to a 12-speaker premium audio system from Bose and a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio.
Both models come with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth pre-installed. You can sync your cellphones with the 8.8-inch touch screen powered by the Mazda Connect infotainment system. You can operate the system with multifunction commander control or with voice commands.
The MX 30 EV and Premium Plus models use the same electrified powertrain. It starts with an Atkinson Cycle synchronous e-SKYACTIV electric motor powered by a 35 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This powertrain produces 143 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque.
You can recharge using Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 charging with different results. A Level 1 charger uses a 120-volt alternating current (AC) outlet and takes up to 13 hours and 40 minutes to recharge. Level 2 charging takes advantage of a 240-volt AC outlet and achieves a full charge in two hours and 50 minutes. Most drivers prefer Level 3 charging using a direct current (DC) outlet. With DC fast-charging capability, you can recharge your battery in only 36 minutes.
Now your MX 30 comes with Mazda's i-Activesense, a suite of driver-assist systems designed to elevate your driving experience and help keep you safer. The suite includes radar cruise control with stop and go. Using milliwave radar, the system keeps you at a preset speed and distance to the vehicle ahead. When the traffic slows, the system slows you down, even to a complete stop. Then, when the way ahead clears, the system returns your MX 30 to its presets.
You also get blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and driver attention warning systems. These systems use sensors to monitor your blind spots and track your MX 30 when traveling within marked lanes. When they detect a potential problem, they alert you. These systems can engage emergency braking and steering to help mitigate or avoid a possible accident in some instances.
Now, you can download the My Mazda App for free and begin using the convenient features. Through the app, you can remotely operate your MX 30, starting your car and pre-heating or cooling your climate control system. You can lock and unlock your vehicle or start and stop charging from anywhere using the app on your cellphone. You also have access to vehicle health reports in real-time. The app includes a search function to find charging stations nearby or en route. In addition, you can use the app to find your MX 30 in those crowded parking lots.

The Mazda MX-30 was introduced to California in 2021 as the first all-electric Mazda vehicle, prior to a larger U.S. rollout planned for 2022. Let's take a closer look at the Mazda MX-30 and answer some FAQs.
The 2022 MX-30 will start at $33,470 without including destination and handling, taxes, title, or additional fees.
The Mazda MX-30 went on sale at California dealerships in October 2021.
Yes! The MX-30 is Mazda’s first-ever fully electric vehicle
The MX-30 was designed to be green and fun to drive. The 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery allows for a lower environmental impact.
The MX-30 can easily be the ideal companion for daily commuting around town, or up and down the coast, with an EPA estimated range of 100 miles on a full charge. The typical American drives approximately 30 miles per day, the MX-30 was specifically designed to meet their needs.
For those occasions when owners are feeling inspired to go on an extended trip, Mazda is launching an all-new program exclusively for MX-30 owners called, Mazda MX-30 Elite Access Loaner Program. Mazda MX-30 owners will have access to experience other vehicles in the Mazda family, based on dealer participation (Capistrano Mazda is a participating dealer), availability and having a reservation in advance, for up to 10 days per year for the first three years of ownership.
There are three different levels of available charging for the MX-30:
Because electric vehicle owners rarely drive their vehicles close to empty, a quick charge from 20% to 80% is often all that is required. Additionally, the last 20% of charging (from 80-100%) is slowed for level 3 charging to protect the battery’s longevity.
Yes, there is no risk of electric shock when charging in the rain. The MX-30 charging port is designed to allow for small amounts of water or dust to get in the port when charging the car. There is also a cover and seal that is designed to keep the charging port clean and dry.
Note: it is not recommended to charge the high voltage battery outside if there is heavy rain, strong winds, and/or lightning and you should avoid touching the charge port or charge cable with wet hands.
The MX-30 is configured for the international standard Combined Charging System (CCS) connector, which is compatible with all public (excluding Tesla) and in-house charging stations.
A 50 kW charging port is the appropriate rate to charge the 35.5 kWh battery in the MX-30.
Mazda is confident in the battery’s performance. For added peace of mind, the battery will include an eight-year, or 100,000-mile warranty, should there be any issues.
While Mazda believes the range of the MX-30 will satisfy most customers’ daily needs, they recognize that there may be some instances where the mileage capacity could be restrictive. To accommodate those needs, the MX-30 Elite Access Loaner Program was created to give MX-30 owners access to other vehicles in the Mazda family, based on dealer participation (Capistrano Mazda is a participating dealer), availability, and having a reservation in advance, for up to 10 days per year for the first three years of ownership.
The design of the MX-30 is focused on openness. The freestyle doors help achieve this intent while providing easier entry and exit from both front and rear seats, as well as simpler loading and unloading of cargo.
Opening the front door reveals a latch to easily access the rear doors and allow entry to the back seats. The front seats can be conveniently adjusted by front occupants with the traditional seat controls or new power controls on the back of the driver’s seat for rear occupants sitting behind the driver.
The doors feature hot-stamped vertical reinforcements, reinforcement of the front and rear hinges as well as side sills, resulting in body strength and energy-absorbing efficiency on par with cars that have center pillars.
The MX-30 will launch in the US with front-wheel drive. Future model specs will be shared when available.
The MX-30 will be available in two models. It will be offered as standard as Mazda MX-30 EV or equipped with the Premium Plus package, which includes more features and options.
The following items are included in the MX-30 Premium Package:
The all-new Mazda MX-30 debuted in California dealerships as a 2022 model.
The MX-30 is similar in size to the Mazda CX-30.
EPA passenger volume front/rear in cubic feet: 51.6 front, 38.2 rear
EPA cargo volume in cubic feet: 21.04
The top speed of the 2022 Mazda MX-30 is 87 mph.
The MX-30 electric motor will provide an output of 107 kW (143 horsepower).
The MX-30 electric motor will provide a maximum torque of 200 lb-ft at 3,243 rpm.
Mazda wants to communicate the new era this electric vehicle brings to the brand while using an established Mazda nomenclature that our customers are familiar with. “MX” currently exists with the “MX-5 Miata” however, in Mazda’s history, “MX” has also been used in concept cars which are meant to propose new values and focus on the future – both characteristics seen in the MX-30. The “30” shares a connection with the “CX-30” that has a similar size.
The circle on the infotainment display is the new Driver Monitor* feature that provides a visual and audible alert to suggest taking a break when the driver monitoring camera, located in the Mazda Connect infotainment display housing, recognizes changes on the driver’s face that could suggest sleepiness or fatigue while driving.
*Included in Premium Package.
Even though electric vehicles produce no engine sound, Mazda’s e-Skyactiv provides audible feedback to the driver that enables them to subconsciously recognize the torque status of the power unit and thus control vehicle speed with greater precision.
Mazda wanted to use materials that show even greater respect for environmental conservation while balancing sustainability with the natural appeal and craftsmanship of the materials.
The cork accents in the center console and door grips are one of the most sustainable materials available. The seats feature leatherette and fabric that uses 20% recycled threads. The door trims also use recycled PET bottles.
Mazda has strategically decided to roll out its first electric vehicle in California before expanding to other states in 2022.
If you live outside of California, you can still purchase the MX-30, but warranty service and other services/rebates may be limited. Mazda dealerships outside of California will only be able to handle typical maintenance (such as tire rotations, brakes, washer fluid, etc.). Electric vehicle system repairs would require the vehicle to be serviced in California. It is recommended to service MX-30 by a trained CA Mazda dealership.
The U.S. national average is currently $0.13/kWh, meaning that the MX-30 costs approximately $4.62 to charge from empty to full at home. For an exact quote, contact your local electrical company to determine your current rate.
The charging station itself runs between $500 and $700 to purchase. For example, the ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 Charger is $699.00 +tax. If needed, installation could require an electrician which would increase cost, depending on the electrical upgrades needed for your home. Installation of a Level 2 charging station is one of the most common residential applications today and allows you to fully charge your MX-30 in less time.
It's highly recommended to have a professional electrician install a Level 2 charging station because you'll be working with your home's electrical system. First, you will need to run 240 volts from the breaker panel to the place where you plan to install your charging station. You will need a double-pole circuit breaker attached to two 120-volt buses to double the circuit voltage, using a four-strand cable. This cable needs to be properly secured and insulated to prevent damage to your electrical system. Finally, mount your charging system and attach it to the 240-volt cable.
Yes (excluding Tesla stations). It's important to note that according to EV Charging, in 2019, there were approximately 17,500 charging stations across the nation. That's compared to 168,000 gas stations. While your options for charging stations are more limited, you will be able to charge your MX-30 at any EV Charging station you find.
Several electric vehicles qualify for the up to $7,500 federal tax credit incentive, and the Mazda MX-30 is one of them. The amount of tax credit is based on the battery size of the electric vehicle, so the MX-30 qualifies for the entire $7,500 available. Up to $7,500 means that if you owe $7,500 or more at the end of the year, you will receive the full value of the credit. If you only owe $5,000, then you would receive that amount in credit. You cannot carry over the unused portion to the following tax year.
California offers an additional incentive to purchase electric, plug-in hybrid, and fuel cell vehicles known as the California Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP). The Mazda MX-30 is eligible for a $2,000 rebate through the CVRP. Eligible California residents can apply for this rebate through a simple process after purchasing or leasing an MX-30 as long as the customer qualifies and funds are available.
California also offers the California Clean Fuel Reward, which is available to anyone who purchases or leases an eligible electric vehicle with a battery capacity of more than 5 kWh from a participating retailer. The Mazda MX-30 is eligible for $750, thanks to its 35.5-kWh battery.
The Mazda MX-30 goes from zero to 60 in approximately 8.7 seconds.
Yes! The Mazda MX-30 is eligible for California’s Highway-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) decal, which allows you access into the Carpool lane even when driving solo.
The Mazda MX-30 high-voltage battery has a warranty of eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Yes, there are incentives on the Mazda MX-30 in the form of rebates, including the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit, the $750 California Clean Fuel Rebate as well as $2,000 California Clean Air Rebate (if eligible). Customer incentives and rebates change frequently, so be sure to contact Capistrano Mazda to confirm any available incentives.

Electric vehicles are known for their low cost of ownership and maintenance, compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
Based on your charging needs at home, your electric bill could increase. However, there are often additional rebates available on an annual basis from your local utility company, which add to your savings from owning a Mazda MX-30.
Overall, fully charging the MX-30 at home with a Level 2 charger costs approximately $4.62, a fraction of the cost to fill up a gas car.
The Mazda MX-30 plug-in hybrid is planned for release in 2022. Interested customers can reach out to Capistrano Mazda to receive notifications as additional information becomes available.
