Capistrano Mazda – 2025 Mazda CX-50

Already one of the best compact SUVs available, Mazda has enhanced its CX-50 for 2025. With bigger and better technology as standard and a new hybrid option, there’s plenty to love about the 2025 Mazda CX-50. At Capistrano Mazda, we’re proud to bring all the new vehicles from Mazda, including the 2025 CX-50, to the people of San Juan Capistrano. Check out all the features that make this small car so appealing.

Trim Levels

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 will be available in seven different trim levels, each one more luxurious and high-tech than the last. The price you’ll pay for your vehicle depends on your preferred trim level and the optional features you select. Here’s some more information about each trim level to help you make the right choice for your needs, taste, and budget:

2.5 S Select

Mazda’s base trim has more luxurious features this year, including a larger infotainment touchscreen and Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go. It’s powered by a 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder motor with i-ACTIVE all-wheel drive.

2.5 S Preferred and Hybrid Preferred

The Preferred trim is the second level for the gas-powered CX-50 and the base for the hybrid version, whose 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine pairs with three electric motors for a power boost. The eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat and three-level heated front seats make your ride more comfortable. This trim also has a rear power liftgate for easy operation when your hands are full.

2.5 S Premium and Hybrid Premium

Mazda starts to turn up the luxury on the Premium trims. Whether you choose the gas-powered or hybrid alternative, a power sliding-glass panoramic moonroof will help you feel closer to the elements. The 12-speaker Bose surround sound system makes every car ride feel like a concert, while the wireless phone charger ensures a flat battery won’t spoil your fun.

2.5 S Premium Plus and Hybrid Premium Plus

Mazda enhances the CX-50 inside and out at the Premium Plus level. The front seats become ventilated and all seats get sporty leather trim. Mazda also upgrades the regular 17-inch wheels to 20-inch aluminum alloys with an eye-catching black metallic finish and machine-cut accents.

2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition

The Turbo Meridian Edition is the first CX-50 with the upgraded SKYACTIV-G 2.5 engine with twin-scroll turbo and i-Stop. It makes 256 horsepower and increases the CX-50’s pulling power to 3,500 pounds. The alloy wheels are 18 inches, slightly smaller than on the Premium Plus, but they retain the black metallic finish and get matching black lug nuts.

2.5 Turbo Premium

Along with that exciting turbocharged engine, the Turbo Premium trim comes with advanced technology features. The steering wheel is a real plus on chilly morning commutes. You’ll also appreciate the more advanced driver assistance inclusions, including active driving display and cruising and traffic support.

2.5 Turbo Premium Plus

Mazda pulls out all the stops for its Turbo Premium Plus model. Front cross traffic alert and brake joins the driver assistance package. The 360-degree view monitor with see-through view improves visibility in all directions. Your rear passengers also get heated seats at this trim level.

Capistrano Mazda - 2025 Mazda CX-50 - Exterior Features

Exterior Features

The CX-50 was already one of the most stylish vehicles in the compact SUV segment, so this model retains its signature look in 2025. It’s slightly more rugged than other SUVs in the Mazda family, with wide fenders, large vents, and dual exhaust outlets. The oval grille and rounded body soften its look. The slim headlights are a great modern touch.

The hybrid options should look similar to the gas-powered versions, although Mazda says their front bumpers will sit lower. Unique wheel designs should also set these eco-friendly compact SUVs apart from their gas-powered siblings.

Interior Features

The 2025 CX-50 has a well-appointed cabin with space for five people across two rows of comfortable, supportive seats. With ample space in front, there’s plenty of legroom and headroom for the driver and front passenger. Space is slightly more limited in the rear, but it’s ample for kids. Laying down the rear seats increases cargo space from 31 cubic feet to 56 cubes.

A large 10.3-inch full-color center display touchscreen decorates the dashboard. This year’s model is compatible with Amazon Alexa, which is always ready to assist with weather forecasts, climate control, accessing your contacts, curating the perfect playlist, and much more. The touchscreen complements the CX-50’s partially digital gauge display.

Performance

Mazda provides three different engine options that all perform well. The CX-50’s standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is a capable motor that’s made for city driving. For something more dynamic, there’s the turbocharged motor available with the top trims. With this engine on board, the CX-50 reached 60 miles per hour in 6.4 seconds during independent testing.

The hybrid is another excellent option if you’re aiming to reduce your carbon footprint or save money at the pump. Mazda expects it’ll have a combined rating of 38 miles per gallon. Gas-powered options aren’t especially thirsty though. The base model has a combined rating of 27 miles per gallon. Opt for the turbocharged option to reduce fuel efficiency by a single mile per gallon.

Motoring experts have praised the gas-powered CX-50 models for their accurate steering and smooth ride. It’s likely the hybrid will emulate these qualities on its release.

Compact SUVs like the Mazda CX-50 are never heavy-duty towers, but this vehicle does well for its size. It can pull up to 2,000 pounds with the standard gas-powered engine, and 3,500 pounds with the turbocharged motor on board. Even the hybrid engine can manage 1,500 pounds, which is enough for lugging a small travel trailer or lightweight fishing boat.
