2026 Mazda Vehicles To Look Out for: A Buyer’s Guide

December 8th, 2025 by

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to buy a Mazda, look no further than the 2026 lineup. Mazda has completely redesigned the CX-5 and made a host of improvements across its other models. Whether you’re cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway or just need dependable family wheels, these 2026 Mazda models to look out for combine modern technology with that signature Mazda driving feel you’re sure to love.

2026 Mazda CX-5

2026 Mazda CX-5: The Complete Redesign Everyone’s Talking About

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 isn’t just a refresh; it’s been completely rebuilt from the ground up. The revamped exterior features sharp styling, with a wider front end and slim, angular LED headlights that contrast with the glossy black trim around the grille and wheel wells. In keeping with this premium vibe, MAZDA lettering across the back replaces the old logo.

The cabin maintains this same sophistication, with high-quality craftsmanship, premium materials, and subtle ambient lighting in seven color options to create your ideal mood and atmosphere. It also features an available 15.6-inch touch screen with Google built in, which is the largest Mazda has ever built. This state-of-the-art technology enables improved connectivity and navigation, hands-free operation, and easier use, as the old rotary control knob is gone.

Bigger than the 2025 model, the 2026 CX-5 is 4.5 inches longer and about half an inch wider. Your backseat passengers will thank you for the extra space, since class-leading knee and legroom in the second row means everyone can stretch out. This means no more worrying about cramped kids fighting for space on road trips, plus a few extra inches of cargo space for gear and luggage. This may not sound like much, but combined with the reduced lift-in height, it’s never been easier to load and store beach gear or grocery bags.

Performance-wise, the CX-5 remains unchanged, equipped with the same reliable SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It generates 187 horsepower and 185-186 lb-ft of torque, with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. However, Mazda’s new SKYACTIV-Z hybrid engine won’t be available for the CX-5 until 2027. If you’re eager for even better performance and impressive fuel efficiency, you’ll have to decide whether to grab the redesigned model now or wait another year for the hybrid powertrain.

2026 Mazda CX-90: Luxury 3-Row Excellence Refined

The newest CX-90 is quite similar to the 2025 Mazda CX-90, but with a few extra technology improvements and customization options. The gas version of this three-row midsize SUV is equipped with the same e-Skyactiv G 3.3-liter turbocharged I-6 engine that generates 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque (or 340 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque for the 3.3 Turbo S Premium Sport when using premium fuel). The plug-in hybrid variant combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, plus 26 miles of all-electric range.

The family-friendly CX-90 maintains its smooth drive feel and solid fuel efficiency. Every CX-90 has an eight-speed automatic transmission with standard i-ACTIV all-wheel drive, and the turbo models offer respectable fuel economy at 23 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined.

It comfortably seats up to eight, and the 2026 plug-in hybrid CX-90 increases cabin comfort with lumbar support for the driver’s seat, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable and ventilated front seats, and heated seats in the first two rows. Infotainment displays are available in 10.25-inch or 12.3-inch sizes, with hands-free Amazon Alexa integration newly standard on all models. i-ACTIVSENSE safety tech includes features such as radar cruise control, smart brake support, and blind-spot monitoring.

In terms of design, the 2026 CX-90 now offers a fifth premium exterior paint color, Polymetal Gray Metallic, across the lineup. The Premium Sport option, available on all Turbo S models, adds dark exterior accents, including blacked-out Mazda brand logos, and a few practical touches, such as automatic power-folding and auto-dimming side mirrors.

2026 Mazda CX-30: Upscale New Trims To Consider

Mazda has made some enhancements to the 2026 CX-30 while keeping the urban-friendly features that made it popular. Since the next-generation CX-30 won’t show up until 2029, this refresh is perfect timing. For 2026, the CX-30 offers an expanded model selection with the addition of the following two trims:

2.5 S New Aire Edition: This brand-new trim builds on the 2.5 S Preferred trim with Gloss Black badging and Metallic Black exterior accents, plus a spacious, gray-and-white interior with leatherette upholstery and suede-like trim.

2.5 Turbo Aire Edition: If you’re looking for a more dynamic drive with the same sophisticated design as the New Aire Edition, this trim is for you. It’s powered by a SKYACTIV-G 2.5 turbo engine that generates up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque.

2026 Mazda CX-50: A Midcycle Update Worth Considering

The CX-50 had a substantial refresh in 2025, so Mazda has only added some minor upgrades and customization options for 2026. The trim lineup has expanded with the addition of the CX-50 2.5 S Meridian Edition, which features all-terrain tires, black exterior accents, and half-leatherette seats. Some other models boast a revised exterior that features a black Mazda emblem and badges. Finally, a new-for-2026 white interior option outfits the cabin with white leatherette seats in the Preferred trim or white leather upholstery in the Premium trims.
